Mellow English was created to solve some of the many issues I found when using other sites in order to teach English as a foreign language. As a TEFL teacher I was frustrated at the high prices that many sites asked of their students, while paying their tutors only a small fraction of this. Many of my students have been from countries where the average income can be very low when compared to western salaries, and they often struggle to pay the fees demanded of them.
Mellow English only takes a small fraction of the fees paid by students, just enough to cover the costs of maintaining the website and to pay the developers. We have always tried to avoid constant 'improvements' which on many sites add little to the students' experience and yet cost them money. In this way we can be fair to both students and tutors.
Students
After you have registered with us you will take a completely free 15 minute taster lesson with a tutor of your choice. This is so you can see how we operate and be happy that we will be able to help you in your learning adventure. Once you have done this, you can book lessons with either this tutor, or choose a different one, but you do need to pay for lessons in advance. You can pay for just half an hour or an hour of lessons, or you can pay for 2 o rmore hours and receive a small discount. There are no restrictions on when you choose to take the lessons and they will not expire. We are a British company based in Scotland so all payments are made in GBP (Great British Pounds) using a credit or debit card. We recommend Wise or Revolut as two card companies who do not charge high fees to transfer from your own currency.
One of the best ways to improve your English is to use it, but for most people who live in countries where English is not normally spoken, this is difficult. So regular conversations with a tutor on Mellow English is a great way of adding to your vocabulary and so improve your fluidity in talking.
